thirteen senses

英格兰的cornwall, Will South是乐队的主唱，同时负责部分吉他和键盘的演奏，Tom Welham为乐队的吉他手，另外两名是bass手Adam Wilson和鼓手Brendon James。四人在学院结识后组建了 thirteen senses,初期主要是在英格兰的西南部做一些小的演出。2003年12月，thirteen senses进驻伦敦，开始了真正意义的乐队生涯。
　　Thirteen Senses在正式改名为Thirteen Senses前乐队的名字为Soul Magician.这是乐队早期的曾用命，在Soul Magician的名义下，乐队于2002年出过一张EP叫做Inside A Healing Mind，这张EP共包括4首歌曲。这张EP是Thirteen Senses严格意义上的处女作。之后随着其他成员的加入乐队才正式改名为Thirteen Senses。并于2003年推出了乐队的首张大碟《Falls In The Dark》。Thirteen Senses在商业上并不成功，因此有很多人并不知道这张大碟的存在，网上有些推荐者和很多同学认为2004年的《The Invitation》是乐队的Debut，显然是错误的。2004年之后乐队又于2007年推出了第三张大碟《Contact》。关于单曲方面，Thirteen Senses出过不少单曲，没错的话应该是7张。
　　由于宣传的原因，Thirteen Senses的知名度并不是很高，特别是美洲。但是他们的音乐的质量是毋庸置疑的。
　　2004年的3月乐队发表他们的首张单曲《Thru The Glass》 （05年的一月这张单曲再版发行）。之后第二张单曲唱片《Do No Wrong》的发表可以算作成功的后继，但第三张 单曲唱片《into the fire》的发表才算是为thirteen senses的发展彻底铺平了道路。《into the fire》也成为thirteen senses目前最红的热门单曲。紧随其后正式发表的专辑《the invitation》虽然已有大部分作品提前在单曲唱片中曝光，使专辑缺乏神秘感，但在12首曲目中，除了提到的《into the fire》一气呵成以及《Thru The Glass》跌宕起伏外，《gone》里的假声漂亮而经典，《the salt wound routine》中的钢琴理性而认真。
　　这是一张在乐迷们看来绝不亚于当年Starsailor的《Love Is Here》的Debut专辑，Starsailor凭它拿了年度最佳新人，而Thirteen Senses不能说什么也没得到，起码他们的两首单曲在英国摇滚榜上也到过前3，但是有Keane,Franz Ferdinand,Kasabian以及一堆Garage Punk乐队在，他们也就显得不那么出挑了，这也是为什么他们还是没有得到应得的关注的原因吧。著名权威音乐网站AMG里Thirteen Senses还没什么资料呢，而同时期出来的Keane的资料已经很全了。说到Keane，他们的Debut04年大卖130多万张，05年居然还是卖出了40多万张，商业上的成功也是有目共睹。当然这是他们应得的。从97年组队到03年，一直都没出什么成绩，最后是吉他和贝斯实在熬不住而离队的，他们也没办法才放弃吉他和贝斯的，结果反而大获成功。
　　在如今英伦朋克热潮中，Thirteen Sense的音乐还是让人眼前一亮的。在漫天70s-80s的合成器复古声浪中，单纯美好的旋律和原音钢琴变成了最奢侈的浪漫享受。和Keane一样，他们用钢琴做主要配器，虽没有Keane那么顿挫有力，但加上柔和的吉他贝斯，增添了一分细腻。主唱Will South的嗓音虽然不象Keane主唱那般惊艳，但也柔美清澈的可以，每次聆听都会被新的细节感动。要说有些作品也不失波澜壮阔的感觉，只是没有表现的那么张扬，而是更多内敛。
